Depression Therapy for Florida Adults

Person sitting alone on boardwalk at sunset — depression therapy for adults in Florida.

Depression Therapy for Florida Adults

Depression doesn't always look like not being able to get out of bed. For many adults, it looks like going through the motions — showing up, doing what needs to be done, but feeling disconnected, flat, or empty underneath. The things that used to bring you joy don't anymore. You're exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix. And you're not sure how you got here or how to get out.

I treat depression as a primary presenting concern in its own right. Some clients come with depression as their sole focus. Others come with depression alongside another concern — anxiety, a life transition, recovery. Both are welcome, and both get addressed clinically.

How Depression Can Show Up

Depression looks different from person to person. Common experiences include:

  • Persistent low mood, emptiness, or hopelessness
  • Loss of interest in things that used to matter
  • Fatigue and low energy that doesn't improve with rest
  • Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or starting tasks
  • Withdrawing from relationships and social life
  • Irritability or emotional numbness
  • Changes in sleep or appetite
  • Feeling like you're going through the motions without connection to what you're doing
  • Self-criticism, guilt, or a persistent sense that you're falling short
  • Depression that seems to have no clear cause, or that has been present for years

How I Work

Sessions are structured and skills-based, drawing from CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based approaches, positive psychology, and evidence-based depression treatments. Understanding how depression operates — how it shapes thinking, energy, motivation, and behavior — is often part of what makes it addressable. From there, we develop concrete tools: cognitive strategies for identifying and shifting depressive thinking, behavioral activation to interrupt the withdrawal patterns depression maintains, and skills for rebuilding energy, connection, and a sense of agency in daily life.

Some clients arrive with depression that's been present for years — chronic, low-grade, or cycling. Others are experiencing depression for the first time as adults. Some have depression that's tied to a specific circumstance — a life transition, a loss, a health issue. The clinical approach is calibrated to what your depression is actually doing and where it's coming from.
